However, things have changed,” says the author of a lengthy article published a few days ago in Germany’s leading newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung about the rise of two Bosnian designer furniture brands Zanat and ArtisanThe article includes an interview with Zanat’s CEO, Orhan Niksic and Creative Director, Monica Förster and the author summarizes its story on Zanat as follows: “The combination of traditional craftsmanship and Scandinavian design provides all the ingredients for good storytelling, without hardly any product can compare with, especially not a product in the world of modern furniture design. Zanat’s recipe to go back to the roots and cultivate them in a contemporary way has also attracted a lot of attention for the Balkan young label and has increased its reputation in designer circles. It is a great feeling to read about Bosnian brands like Artisan, Zanat, Gazzda changing the design reputation of the whole Balkan region, opening the doors and serving as an inspiration for new emerging design brands from this part of the world.”
