Home of Zanat is a unique conceptual space: an exhibition and sales showroom for the Zanat brand, as well as a specialized bookstore and an event platform for promoting excellence in the fields of design, architecture, and craftsmanship.
Welcome to our Home
On August 15, 2024 we inaugurated Home of Zanat, Zanat’s first flagship store and event hub. As the saying goes, it takes an endless amount of history to make even a little tradition. For Zanat, it has been just over a century. Over a century since our great grandfather Gano Nikšić learned a pioneering woodcarving technique in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and established our family tradition now spanning over four generations. In 1919, Gano’s sons opened the family workshop in Konjic. One hundred and five years later we opened Zanat’s first flagship store in the historic center of Bosnia’s capital – Sarajevo. The setting carefully selected for our showroom is the beloved Sarajevo address: the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The magnificent building in which the Gallery is located was built around 1912, assumed to be the work of the architect Josip Vancaš, who gave Sarajevo some of its most significant and adorned buildings from the Austro-Hungarian empire period. Judging by its features, it belongs to the late works of historicism, and in addition to Renaissance-classical forms, it also features elements of the Vienna Secession.
Zanat occupies the beautiful ground floor, and is connected to the gallery exhibition space. In addition to retail featuring our latest collections, special and rare originals and samples, the Home of Zanat is also a cultural hub in the city of festivals, a heart of Balkan’s cultural scene.
The concept for the space was developed by Studioilse, the renowned London-based studio founded by Ilse Crawford. Interior design was developed by No_Lab, a Sarajevo based architecture studio founded by Emir Salkic, who designs Zanat’s exhibitions and fair stands. Jasna Mujkic of Sarajevo’s Art Academy is responsible for stylingWe stand deeply aware of where we are coming from, how long it took us to arrive here, but with our eyes on the future, of not only Zanat but the magnificent and intricate craft we have been perfecting. We invite you to join us in celebrating a century of our craft, beautiful family of Zanat’s world renowned designers and a new address on the cultural map of Sarajevo and the region.

Schedule an Appointment
In addition to our regular working hours, we offer flexible scheduled appointments for our partners and clients, where you can receive specialized design and product solutions and recommendations.
Apart from the standard available Zanat products, we offer customization services for special projects, in collaboration with architects and designers. For larger projects, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment to ensure we can dedicate our full attention to your needs, without any interruptions. Zanat is not a mere tenant in the National Gallery (the space that treasures Bosnia’s most precious artworks), but a partner in cultural education and promotion of fine and applied arts.

Hand-carved, personalized messages for your gifts: Zanat offers the service of personalized message inscriptions to make your gift truly unique. Our skilled woodcarvers carefully engrave your message directly onto the products using a special pen, adding a personal touch to your perfect gift.
How it works: after choosing the perfect gift from Zanat, simply send us a personalized message you wish to be inscribed (maximum 16 words and a date, depending on the size of the surface)
